The Baby's Room

I'm not sure if any of you recall in my Scentsy post that I couldn't wait to get one for my son's room.

It arrived and I love it! I got the Newborn Nursery smell and it smells just like baby powder. This is where I was thinking of putting it. He no longer needs the humidifier so that can come out.

So cute!

Here is what it looks like with the lights off. I love that it doubles as a night light. I had a lamp that I use to leave on for him but it was so bright. If he woke up early in the morning he would just stay up because he could see everything. Now, he just goes back to sleep.

Here are the letters that were made for his room. They were a gift from my sister-in-law.

His bed was Devon's when he was a baby. Yes, I've kept it that long.

The frames hold ultrasound pictures. There is the lamp that use to be left on all night.

Each child has a Christmas tree in their room this year. To the right is a basket of shoes that Blake can not wear. His feet are to fat (tall, not wide) and won't go over his feet. The cabinet is special. Blake uses it now, Devon used it when he was a baby, and so did Alexys. It is older then that. Robert also used it when he was little and so did his mother. I redid it and added new hardware. I still love that it has been passed down.

This is special to me. Devon made this with his bend-a-roos before Blake was born. There is even a flower in there. I thought that was so sweet of him, I framed it.

Fat Tuesday

I was already to do this dumb Fat Tuesday post, I went on Google to search images (because I can't do a post with out pictures, i just can't) and I typed in the word FAT. This is one of the pictures that popped up.

Really? I wish I was "fat" like Jennifer Love Hewitt. This was about that time that the media was saying she was fat. Really? Where? Let me pour my fat ass in a bikini and I'll show you fat.

The radio station I listen to this morning was talking about regular fat and Hollywood fat. They were saying that most women these days would love to be a size 8 (I know I would do anything for it) but in Hollywood that is considered fat, borderline obese. Really....then maybe I should be lifted out of my house with a crane or something because I haven't seen an 8 in years.

This gets be thinking about the runway models. They are deathly skinny, to the point there is no way anyone could possibly think they look good.

How can I raise my teenage daughter to think that she looks good being 110 pounds (oh, I remember those days) when the media is telling us that is fat.

I know this isn't my typical Fat Tuesday post. But I gained 2 pounds and it wasn't going to be a happy post anyways. I hope every is doing good on their weight loss.

Christmas decor

This weekend, in between playing with my kiddos, I decorated for Christmas (with the help of my mom). Last week Thrifty Decor Chick had the beautiful post about her dining room Christmas vignette. Please go check it out! I loved that it was so simple to do and looked beautiful. She also talked about how cheap it was for her to do it. She got most of the stuff at Wal-mart. Awesome. Well, I'm a little poor these days so I had to use what I had. This is what I came up with.

The clear vase was a wedding present (2 years ago) and the pine cones my mom had brought over. The snowman I bought from Avon a few years ago. The pretty red vase, full of lights, is from my hubby. He sent me 3 dozen roses in it at work the day he proposed. He is romantic every now and then.

The JOY words I bought from some kids fund raiser a few years back and the cake dome is another wedding present (this is the first time I used it). My mom had brought over two bags of different ornaments.

These two vases are just random vases around. One is filled with garland that I've had for years and the other one has ornaments in them. The snowman is a gift from a friend a few years ago and the large nutcracker was a table center piece we won from my hubby's company Christmas party several years ago.

We don't use our fireplace. So I added a few candles and my mom put in the Christmas swag and Ta-da!

This is the little tree in Alexys' room. It is purple with green lights. The bulbs we got out of the dollar bin at Target. See the picture to the right of it. That's Devon. Alexys loves her brother!

While I know my mantel is nothing special to most...my Grandma painted the sleigh and reindeer and she is no longer with us. I love it. I didn't have any fake snow. My mom asked if I had tissue paper, I did but it said Macy's all over it, owell, it worked.

It's not done yet. If you count, we only have 4 stockings. Since Blake was born in January I guess he needs one too, haha! I need to go see if Target still carries them and then get it embroidered.

Sitting here doing the post I realize...I didn't take a pic of my tree. I'll work on that. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Great Weekend

The rest of my weekend was wonderful. Saturday Blake and I woke up and snuggled on the couch. I made us a big pancake and we shared it. Usually I don't let the kids sleep real late, but it was our relaxing weekend so I didn't care.

My mom came over around 8. She painted my bathroom for me and then helped me decorate for Christmas (that is another post, with pictures). Alexys left for a "date" with her boyfriend and it was just me, my boys and my mom. She wanted to leave before it got dark so my house was still a mess. We had decorations up, but boxes every where. We stopped alot to play with the boys, after all...to me, this weekend was about me and my kids. We stayed in our jammies ALL day! It was awesome. We did leave and get dinner at Taco Bell...in our jammies, but we just did the drive thru.

Sunday was much of the same. Trying to go through all the boxes. Blake and I played alot. Devon played with the neighbor's girls and Alexys had stayed the night at a friend's house. My house looks good. I'm not "lovin" my tree, but it will work this year.

Finding Sanity

If any of you remember last week I blogged about my slight meltdown last Saturday...if not read here. I'll wait....

So, I am trying to fix the situation that I have put myself in. For the first time in well over a year....I made no plans this weekend other than spend time with my kiddos. I have had several people tell me in the past few days (after reading my blog) that they do notice that I'm ALWAYS busy. One even said I tend to "burn the candle at both ends". So really, it's no wonder I had a meltdown.

Before I left work today, my wonderful daughter (17 years old) text me and asked if we could have movie night. She totally made my night! We haven't really talked much lately and I figured it would be like this weekend. Plus dear hubby is at the deer least, again, and I have both boys alone. My friends tease all the time, I'm the single mom with three kids. Any who...I left work and picked up the boys and came home to pick up Alexys. We went to CiCi's Pizza for dinner and then to Red Box to rent some movies. When we got home, Devon immediately went in his room to watch his movie. Alexys and I put on our jammies and played with Blake on the living room floor. It was really nice, and relaxing. Then Alexys and I watched our movie and when it was over it was still early (for me).

I put Blake to bed, he was already asleep anyways and started to "declutter" the house. I went through drawers and threw stuff away. I went though alot of stuff in my bed room and either threw it away or paid a pile for donation. I'm far from done but it is after midnight now. Tomorrow morning Devon and I are going to decorate the tree and Alexys will take some pics. I plan on decorating the whole inside of the house for Christmas but with a 10 month old that likes a little attention from time to time that gets hard. Alexys already asked to go to dinner with her boyfriend tomorrow and then stay the night with a friend. I guess it is just me and the boys tomorrow night. I want to bake some cookies for a care package I would like to get in the mail Monday. I also have a few frames around the house that I just need to print out updated pictures for...that's on my to do list as well.

Our weather is so dumb in Texas. Tomorrow it is going to be 78 and then Sunday I think the high is 58! WTF? And I wonder why we keep getting sick.

It's that time again for Five Question Friday! If you would like to link up feel free to at My Little Life. 1. What is on the top of your holiday wish list and why?

This is SOOO easy to answer. I want a new camera. My friend got this super cool camera plus two lenses for $800! I'm in camera envy, no lie! Why do I want this? I love love love to take pictures and this camera is so super awesome!

2. What is your favorite Christmas gift from the past?

I'm sure I've gotten many Christmas gifts that are totally awesome, but most recently was last year. My husband bought me a cricut! I use it to both scrapbook and make crafts. Love it!

3. If you had life to do over, what would you be when you grow up?

I believe everything happens for a reason so I'm where I'm supposed to be. But basically I am doing what I intended. I wanted to be in accounting and I am. I guess when I was little I always thought that if I would go into accounting I would have some fancy job downtown like my mom. But I don't. I work for a mom and pop small business. But I'm ok with that.

4. When do you put up your tree?

It is always my intentions to put it up the weekend after Thanksgiving. In years past that hasn't happened and I end up throwing it up about 2 weeks before Christmas. But this year it went up the weekend after Thanksgiving. Problem is....I haven't decorated it!

5. What is your favorite holiday?

With out a doubt....Christmas.
