Summer Mantel

This weekend I want to redecorate my mantel.  I want it summer/beach themed.  Here are a few mantel's I've fallen in love with and hope mine looks something like them.

The Baby's Room

I'm not sure if any of you recall in my Scentsy post that I couldn't wait to get one for my son's room.

It arrived and I love it! I got the Newborn Nursery smell and it smells just like baby powder. This is where I was thinking of putting it. He no longer needs the humidifier so that can come out.

So cute!

Here is what it looks like with the lights off. I love that it doubles as a night light. I had a lamp that I use to leave on for him but it was so bright. If he woke up early in the morning he would just stay up because he could see everything. Now, he just goes back to sleep.

Here are the letters that were made for his room. They were a gift from my sister-in-law.

His bed was Devon's when he was a baby. Yes, I've kept it that long.

The frames hold ultrasound pictures. There is the lamp that use to be left on all night.

Each child has a Christmas tree in their room this year. To the right is a basket of shoes that Blake can not wear. His feet are to fat (tall, not wide) and won't go over his feet. The cabinet is special. Blake uses it now, Devon used it when he was a baby, and so did Alexys. It is older then that. Robert also used it when he was little and so did his mother. I redid it and added new hardware. I still love that it has been passed down.

This is special to me. Devon made this with his bend-a-roos before Blake was born. There is even a flower in there. I thought that was so sweet of him, I framed it.

Christmas decor

This weekend, in between playing with my kiddos, I decorated for Christmas (with the help of my mom). Last week Thrifty Decor Chick had the beautiful post about her dining room Christmas vignette. Please go check it out! I loved that it was so simple to do and looked beautiful. She also talked about how cheap it was for her to do it. She got most of the stuff at Wal-mart. Awesome. Well, I'm a little poor these days so I had to use what I had. This is what I came up with.

The clear vase was a wedding present (2 years ago) and the pine cones my mom had brought over. The snowman I bought from Avon a few years ago. The pretty red vase, full of lights, is from my hubby. He sent me 3 dozen roses in it at work the day he proposed. He is romantic every now and then.

The JOY words I bought from some kids fund raiser a few years back and the cake dome is another wedding present (this is the first time I used it). My mom had brought over two bags of different ornaments.

These two vases are just random vases around. One is filled with garland that I've had for years and the other one has ornaments in them. The snowman is a gift from a friend a few years ago and the large nutcracker was a table center piece we won from my hubby's company Christmas party several years ago.

We don't use our fireplace. So I added a few candles and my mom put in the Christmas swag and Ta-da!

This is the little tree in Alexys' room. It is purple with green lights. The bulbs we got out of the dollar bin at Target. See the picture to the right of it. That's Devon. Alexys loves her brother!

While I know my mantel is nothing special to most...my Grandma painted the sleigh and reindeer and she is no longer with us. I love it. I didn't have any fake snow. My mom asked if I had tissue paper, I did but it said Macy's all over it, owell, it worked.

It's not done yet. If you count, we only have 4 stockings. Since Blake was born in January I guess he needs one too, haha! I need to go see if Target still carries them and then get it embroidered.

Sitting here doing the post I realize...I didn't take a pic of my tree. I'll work on that. Hope everyone has a wonderful day.

Great Weekend

The rest of my weekend was wonderful. Saturday Blake and I woke up and snuggled on the couch. I made us a big pancake and we shared it. Usually I don't let the kids sleep real late, but it was our relaxing weekend so I didn't care.

My mom came over around 8. She painted my bathroom for me and then helped me decorate for Christmas (that is another post, with pictures). Alexys left for a "date" with her boyfriend and it was just me, my boys and my mom. She wanted to leave before it got dark so my house was still a mess. We had decorations up, but boxes every where. We stopped alot to play with the boys, after all...to me, this weekend was about me and my kids. We stayed in our jammies ALL day! It was awesome. We did leave and get dinner at Taco Bell...in our jammies, but we just did the drive thru.

Sunday was much of the same. Trying to go through all the boxes. Blake and I played alot. Devon played with the neighbor's girls and Alexys had stayed the night at a friend's house. My house looks good. I'm not "lovin" my tree, but it will work this year.

Thanksgiving-Topic

Here's another topic post. What is my favorite Thanksgiving memory? This was a few years ago. My sister was there (at my mom's house) and I think it was the one year that my dad's daughter actually came. After eating my mother's AMAZING Thanksgiving feast we did gingerbread houses with the kids! I think my mom and my sister did one, Devon and I did one, and my dad's daughter and her son did another. It was so much fun (even if mine did look the worst). I think we might have to do that again this year.

I love Scentsy!

Have you ever heard of Scentsy? It is an alternative to candles and I LOVE THEM!!!! A friend of mine a few months ago was doing a basket party and brought the basket buy for me to check out. I checked out the catalog, found a warmer I liked and smelled ALL of the scents and picked a few of my favorites out. I've been hooked ever since.

This darling number is in my bedroom. I love it and it also works as a wonderful nightlight. This one is in my kids bathroom. The whole thing lights up. That is perfect for when a child needs to go potty in the middle of the night they don't have to be blinded by the big light.

I plan on ordering this little jem this weekend. It will look wonderful in my baby's room. The whole thing lights up and little beams of light shine through the holes. Best part....there is now a newborn nursery scent...it smells kind of like baby powder and that baby bed time lotion. HEAVENLY!

I also fancy this holiday collection. The plug in above would go great in the kids bathroom and the warmer below would go perfect on the table that I put my Halloween warmer last month.

Christimas-Topic

So the other day I felt as if I was having a "blog block" if you will. Couldn't really come up with anything good. So I made a post on my face book. A shout out if you will, to my friends for possible blog topics. It was sad...out of 86 people, 2 responded....awesome. So, I do love these two people and their ideas so I will blog about them. Please feel free to give me ideas that you might like my opinion on or what have you.

The first idea was simply CHRISTMAS. I can go in many different directions with this one. Today I felt like find pictures of beautiful Christmas decor that I might like to try in my home this year. Enjoy.

Very simple centerpiece that any one can do. I've always wanted a beautiful table setting. I never set the table but I think I might this year. I even have Christmas dishes...I could be the envy of all my friends (yeah, right).

Love how they used the color scheme through the whole room. Beautiful.

My mom has an awesome Christmas village. Her current house is to small to put it out. Last year we talked about putting it out in my house. I have a wall of built-ins and it would love lovely. I think I might do it this year.

Just like lanterns, I LOVE APOTHECARY JARS, but have yet to buy them. I don't know why I haven't. They are very versatile and I can change out the contents for every season.
